Resident Aleece Passman has been named the 2025 Kentucky Derby Festival’s Festival Fanatic.
With Thunder Over Louisville just around the corner, the Kentucky Derby Festival has officially selected its 2025 Thundernator.
Aleece Passman, this year’s Festival Fanatic, will step into the spotlight during the Derby Festival’s Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, April 12.

Passman will step into a behind-the-scenes role, leading the official countdown and launching the fireworks sequence from the Command Center at The Galt House Hotel.
“I couldn’t believe it—I had almost forgotten the drawing was happening,” Passman shared. “At first, I thought, ‘Is this for real? Am I being pranked?’ Then it hit me—this is actually happening!”
As the 2025 Festival Fanatic, Passman will receive an exclusive prize package filled with once-in-a-lifetime Kentucky Derby Festival experiences.
