Oklahoma Launches “America First” Teacher Test for Out-of-State Educators

Oklahoma has rolled out a new “America First” teacher test aimed at educators applying from outside the state. The 50-question exam, developed in partnership with PragerU, covers topics like U.S. history, government, biology, and conservative values.

State education leaders claim the test will prevent political indoctrination in classrooms and ensure teachers promote traditional American principles.

However, the move has sparked controversy. Teacher associations and critics argue the policy is politically motivated and could discourage qualified teachers from moving to Oklahoma.

For now, the test applies mainly to teachers from states such as California and New York, but Oklahoma may expand it to more states in the future.

This decision marks one of the most talked-about education policy changes in 2025, raising national debates about politics in schools and teacher recruitment.
