Spotify Faces Global Streaming Issues, Thousands Affected
Many Spotify users across the globe faced problems streaming music on Wednesday. According to Down detector, over 20,000 people reported issues starting around 13:30 GMT.
The problem affected users in several regions, including the US and parts of Europe.
Spotify told the BBC it has fixed the issue with the search feature and is now gradually rolling out the update to users.
Still, it’s not clear when everything will be running smoothly for everyone again.
Spotify Outage Frustrates Over 675 Million Users Globally
Spotify, which boasts over 675 million global users, is currently facing technical issues that are affecting its core features.
While users can still listen to downloaded songs, many report that the search feature and artist pages are not loading. Attempts to search for new music result in a “Something went wrong” error message, along with a refresh option that doesn’t resolve the problem.
The company responded on social media saying, “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out,” as frustrated listeners voiced their concerns online.
Social media platforms were flooded with complaints, as users expressed how the downtime was affecting their routines. One person said they were at the gym without music, while another mentioned the outage was disrupting their study session.
More worrying for Spotify, several users threatened to switch to competitors like Apple Music and YouTube Music if the problems weren’t resolved quickly.
